“la Caixa”/CNIO International PhD Programme
In 2008 “la Caixa” Foundation, a non-profit organization, launched afellowship programme for outstanding young graduate students fromall over the world who want to pursue an ambitious PhD project atthe Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO). Last year “laCaixa” dedicated a budget of 500 million Euros to its social andcultural outreach projects, making it Spain’s leading privatefoundation, the second biggest in Europe and the fifth worldwide interms of budget.
The “la Caixa”/CNIO international PhD programme offers cross-disciplinary training in state-of-the- art basic and applied cancerresearch within an international scientific environment. Ten fullyfunded four year fellowships will be available in 2009. Candidatesshould have an excellent academic track record, a solid knowledge ofEnglish and previous research experience.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) - Japan Scholarship Program (JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan. It aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries to pursue postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development- related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region. The ADB-JSP enrolls about 300 students annually in 20 academic institutions located in 10 countries within the Region.
Department of Economics, National University of Singapore is one of institution participating in this ADB-JSP scholarship program.

The Human Frontier Science Program- Research Grants
Introduction: The Human Frontier Science Program supportsinternational collaborations in basic life science research withemphasis placed on novel, innovative and interdisciplinary approachesto fundamental investigations. Applications are invited for grants tosupport new approaches to understanding complex mechanisms of livingorganisms. Preliminary results are not required but applicants areexpected to develop new lines of research distinct from their ongoingresearch.There are two types of grants: New Investigators’ Grants are for teamsof scientists who are all within five years of establishing anindependent laboratory and within ten years of obtaining their PhDs.Program Grants are for teams of scientists at all stages of theircareers, however the participation of younger scientists is especiallyencouraged.
Eligibility: The principal applicant must be located in one of themember countries (includes Australia) but co-investigators can belocated in any country.
Amount Awarded: Grants provide 3 years support for 2 – 4 member teams.Awards are dependent on team size but can be up to US$450K per annum.
